The Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Connecticut Tigers, 3-1, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. The win was due in part to center fielder Rey Torres, who was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. Vermont starter Mike Kummer was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Crispino Traversari earned the save for Vermont, his 2nd of the year.

In the top of the second, with the game still scoreless, Torres hit a run-scoring single to put his team in the lead.

"Every loss stings," said Connecticut manager Josh Wells. "This one is no exception."

The second-place Lake Monsters are 13-14.
