Ironbirds Pick Up 5-2 Win Against Tri-City
|
Joseph L. Bruno Stadium was the site for New York-Penn League action featuring the Tri-City ValleyCats and Aberdeen Ironbirds.
Aberdeen parlayed a decent outing from starter Chris Spradling into a solid win over the Tri-City ValleyCats. The final score was 5-2. Spradling, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs.
Aberdeen used a well-timed hit by Luke Bigley to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ironbirds ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Bigley said.
Their 20-8 record puts the Ironbirds first in the McNamara Division.
