Cyclones Sink ValleyCats, 5-0
|
Elliot Kohn never let Tri-City get something going. The Brooklyn right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Cyclones to a 5-0 win. Kohn, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Jimmy Belding earned the save for Brooklyn, his 2nd of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Brooklyn, had it not been for Alex Campos, the 21-year old second baseman . Campos contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Brooklyn up, 3-0.
"Elliot -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Cyclones manager Bill Foshee. "He was the key to us winning."
The second-place Cyclones now have a win-loss record of 16-12.
