In a low-scoring contest, Tri-City pitcher Fernando Mendez was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-0 win. Mendez got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 2 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. Amare Brown closed it out for his 2nd save.

Kyle Croson had a big solo home run for the ValleyCats in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tri-City leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Comrie and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the ValleyCats on top, 2-0.

Mendez said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

The ValleyCats sit in third place in the Stedler Division with a record of 14-14.
