The Vermont Lake Monsters knocked off the Williamsport Crosscutters, 8-5, in New York-Penn League action at Bowman Field. Vermont pitcher and El Paso, Texas, native Nick Deatherage had an outstanding performance. Vermont is now 12-16, Williamsport 9-19.

Making an impact for Vermont was right fielder Edwin Ramos. He drilled a double off Brian Moser in the top of the third. For the game, Ramos went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles.

After the game, Ramos refused to speak to a reporter for the Vermont Citizen. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
