Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Auburn fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Black Bears had to.

The West Virginia Black Bears had no problem beating the Auburn Doubledays, 13-1, at Falcon Park. Brendan Fry led the way. He was 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for West Virginia. West Virginia is now 12-17, while Auburn is 12-17.

With West Virginia leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Fry hit a changeup from Bobby Smans for a run-scoring double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Fry said in reaction to the win.
