Crosscutters Suffer 6-3 Setback
|
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters, 6-3, in New York-Penn League action at Bowman Field. Mahoning Valley pitcher Peter Killion had a standout performance. Edgar Reyes earned the save for Mahoning Valley, his 2nd. Mahoning Valley's record now stands at 16-14, placing them third in the Pinckney Division.
Mahoning Valley used the timely hitting of Yoshinaga Amano to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scrappers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Amano.
