Gerhardt, Black Bears Bear Down, Beat Cyclones, 3-0
|
In a tight contest between the West Virginia Black Bears and the Brooklyn Cyclones, J.R. Gerhardt was the determining factor. The West Virginia right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-0 win. Andy Montes picked up the save for West Virginia, his 7th of the year. With the win, the Black Bears have a record of 21-10.
Gerhardt ran roughshod over the Brooklyn lineup. The right-hander allowed just 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 8. With the victory, he goes to 6-0 on the season.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said West Virginia skipper Steve Diamond. "I can't complain."
