Black Bears Bag 2-1 Win
The bats were silent much of the day at Russell Diethrick Park. But 21-year old right fielder Steve Urich produced just enough offense to carry the Black Bears past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 2-1. Urich was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 4th-place Black Bears lifted their record to 15-16.

With West Virginia leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Urich hit a knuckle curve from Mike Newman for a run-scoring double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0.

In postgame remarks, Urich hailed his team's "mettle."
