Big Day with Bat: Schroeder 5-for-5
|
5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Tri-City's Jason Schroeder made it happen against the Muckdogs. Everything came together at the plate for the 20-year-old center fielder as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and helped the ValleyCats triumph, 8-5, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Schroeder said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
Jason Schroeder doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.
For the season, Schroeder is currently batting .268 with 5 home runs and 9 RBIs. In 31 games he has reached base at a .331 rate and scored 13 runs to date.
