Yankees Pocket 2-1 Win Against Aberdeen
|
The Yankees faced a stiff challenge from Aberdeen pitcher Oscar Ramos, but persevered to claim a win at Ripken Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Ramos went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Staten Island pitcher Ignacio Garza earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Oscar Ramos suffered the loss. Staten Island is third in the McNamara Division with a record of 19-13.
John Bowsman had a big solo home run for the Yankees in the top of the fourth inning. With Staten Island leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Oscar Ramos, who is tied for 5th in the NYP with a 1.91 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Bowsman. "This is what good pitching looks like."
