Cyclones Down Ironbirds, 7-5
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Joe Dahl, the Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 7-5. Dahl was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6 for the Cyclones. Reliever Johnny Morales picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Jeff Gifford took the loss. The Cyclones improved to a lofty 26-7.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the tenth, with Brooklyn trailing 5-3, Dahl hit a curveball from Jeff Gifford for a grand slam home run, giving the Cyclones the walk-off win.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Dahl said in reaction to the win.
