In 10, Aberdeen Sinks Connecticut, 6-5
|
Behind a fine performance from Seth Morris, the Aberdeen Ironbirds knocked off the Connecticut Tigers in 10 innings, 6-5. Morris was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Ironbirds. Aberdeen is now 20-13. Connecticut is 14-19.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 23-year old catcher Steve DiPietrantonio had a chance to be the hero. Connecticut pitcher Ryan Stover wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, DiPietrantonio hit a sacrifice fly. The Ironbirds had themselves a thrilling win.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Aberdeen manager Jose Sierra.
