Spikes Win Nail-Biter
The State College Spikes picked up a win at Russell Diethrick Park, dropping the West Virginia Black Bears, 2-1, in 10 innings. Jon Rodriguez, who is tied for 6th in the NYP in innings pitched with 44.2, was the difference-maker. Matt Spiess was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Jason Lieber. The Spikes, at 22-11, sit in first place in the Pinckney Division.

Brendon D'Amato had a direct impact on the outcome. D'Amato contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put State College up, 2-1.

"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Rodriguez. "It eases the tension."
