Scrappers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Spikes, 2-1
Mahoning Valley turned a good effort from starter Nicol Reijnders into a win over the State College Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The final score was 2-1. Mahoning Valley reliever Lindsay Nickerson got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Pat McLaughlin was tagged with the loss. Mahoning Valley, now 24-9, holds down second place in the Pinckney Division.

The outcome might have been different for Mahoning Valley, had it not been for Ben Moreland, the 23-year old second baseman . Moreland stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Mahoning Valley up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Reijnders.
