Crosscutters Claim Late Win
|
The Williamsport Crosscutters got a rain-soaked win over the West Virginia Black Bears.
In the 6-2 Williamsport win over West Virginia, the impact of Austin Garrett was substantial. Garrett went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Williamsport reliever Hector Cahue was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Raul Magallanez took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Dustin Clark came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing West Virginia pitcher Raul Magallanez, he hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Williamsport on top, 4-2.
Garrett said afterward that "winning is the goal."
Williamsport is second in the Pinckney Division with a record of 19-14.
