Lake Monsters Clip ValleyCats, 4-3
|
Centennial Field played host to some high drama.
Vermont pitcher Sam Roy had a large part in his team beating the Tri-City ValleyCats, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Alex Salcido got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 24-year old center fielder Ted Shephard had a chance to be the hero. Tri-City pitcher Chris Reed wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Shephard hit a sacrifice fly. The Lake Monsters had themselves a thrilling win.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Shephard.
The loss makes Tri-City 15-18.
