Lake Monsters Defeated, 3-0
|
Hudson Valley turned a good performance from starting pitcher Lance Zangrilli into a 3-0 triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Dutchess Stadium. In 8 innings, Zangrilli surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The third-place Renegades are 12-21.
The Lake Monsters had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Renegades going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old shortstop Manny Ledesma came to the plate. Ledesma hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Vermont hurler Cesar Salazar. It was Ledesma's 3rd home run of the year.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Ledesma.
