Lake Monsters Top Ironbirds, 4-2
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters and Aberdeen Ironbirds played an exciting game.
The Aberdeen Ironbirds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Carlos Lucero into a win. Instead, the Vermont Lake Monsters prevailed, 4-2, in 10 innings. Lucero threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 run. Brent Vaught claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 3-3.
Manuel Colin had a direct impact on the outcome. Colin contributed a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put Vermont up, 4-2.
"That was fun, that was just good baseball," said Colin.
The second-place Ironbirds now sit at 19-15.
