West Virginia Wins, Arevalo 3-for-4
|
Mario Arevalo knocked in 4 runs to help West Virginia beat Staten Island, 9-0. The first baseman collected 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Marco Jacobo in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Jose Sanchez took the loss. The Black Bears saw their record improve to 16-18.
In the first inning, Arevalo had a bases-clearing double for West Virginia. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Black Bears on top, 4-0.
"They took it to us," said Staten Island manager Tyler Ebert.
