Spinners Rally For 6-5 Win
|
The Lowell Spinners handed the Tri-City ValleyCats a 6-5 defeat in 12 innings at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Shortstop Ernie Bennett starred for Lowell. He went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. The save went to Armando Lopez, number 4 for him. Lowell is second in the Stedler Division with a record of 17-17.
Lowell used the timely hitting of Armando Iboa to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Spinners on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a test of wills," said Mike Palmer, the Lowell skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
