Connecticut picked up a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, bumping off the State College Spikes, 3-2. Pitcher Jose Olivas was a major reason the Tigers emerged victorious. Picking up his 1st save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Edgar Castillo. The Tigers are now 15-20, while the Spikes fall to 15-20.

Mark Mackey, who is tied for 9th in the NYP in triples with 2, helped out the Connecticut cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder went 1-2 with a double and 2 walks.

"Jose can overpower you," said Connecticut manager Allen Franklin.
