Due in large part to center fielder Francisco Castillo, the Vermont Lake Monsters sunk the Tri-City ValleyCats, 5-3. Castillo was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jonathan Thomas, the winner, goes to 1-3. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and no strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Earning his 1st save for Vermont was Pat Beil.

Castillo contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Vermont in the top of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Castillo took a fastball from Angel Morales and stroked the double to right. His 1st double of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 3-2.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Castillo told the Vermont Observer. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
