The Vermont Lake Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Xavier Davis, but the Connecticut Tigers still prevailed, 10-5. Davis threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Connecticut starter Ricardo Castro was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Bobby Espinoza recorded the save for Connecticut, his 5th of the season.

Connecticut used the clutch hitting of Josh Schwarting to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Tigers the lead, 8-5. For the game, Schwarting had 1 single and 1 double in 3 at-bats.

"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Connecticut manager Sean Raymond. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."

The second-place Tigers now have a win-loss record of 20-16.
