Doubledays Collect 7-6 Win Over Tigers
|
The Auburn Doubledays racked up a win at Falcon Park, bumping off the Connecticut Tigers, 7-6. Dallas Phung, who started for Auburn, pitched effectively for his team. Auburn reliever Trevor Stokes picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Julio Martinez shouldered the loss. Auburn now sits at 25-13, while Connecticut falls to 15-23.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Auburn pinch hitter Kenny Hunter, facing Felix Valentin, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Doubledays the 7-6 win.
In postgame comments, Phung said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
