The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of State College fans at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The State College Spikes defeated the Auburn Doubledays, 6-4, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College right fielder Eric Fairweather had a superb performance. He went 2-3 with a double, while scoring 2. Pat McLaughlin earned the save for State College, his 5th of the year.

State College took a 6-2 lead on Samppa Osterbur's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Osterbur hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Auburn pitcher Bobby Bean shaking his head.

"We ground out the win," said Osterbur. "That's all that matters."

With the victory, the Spikes record now stands at 17-22.
