Aberdeen got a strong outing from John Hodge as the Ironbirds defeated the Lowell Spinners, 5-0, at Ripken Stadium. Hodge yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-2. Sean Bartholomew earned the save for Aberdeen, his 3rd.

Matt Valencia went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Aberdeen. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Vance Bentz. It was his 40th hit of the season.

"All in all, I thought John pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Aberdeen manager Jose Sierra.
