Spikes Take Tight Tilt, 5-4
The excitement level at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park reached a crescendo in the final at-bat.

The Spikes earned a hard-fought, 5-4 win in 11 innings at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Auburn pitcher Mikey Thomas. Thomas went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The Spikes saw their win-loss record go to 25-15. At the same time, the Doubledays fell to 15-25.

The Spikes got a clutch hit from first baseman Rico Orozco. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Spikes.

"It was bedlam at the end," Orozco said.
