Black Bears Topple Crosscutters, 5-4, as Williams Shines
|
The West Virginia Black Bears did just enough to sneak past the Williamsport Crosscutters, 5-4, at Bowman Field. West Virginia designated hitter Jerry Williams, in particular, had a standout performance. The win went to Tim Knowles in relief, making him now 2-3. Chris Pasquini took the loss for Williamsport. Their 19-21 record puts the Black Bears 5th in the Pinckney Division.
West Virginia used a timely hit from Seth Clark to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Williams.
