Spinners Top Renegades, 1-0
|
In a tight game between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Lowell Spinners, nobody was more important for the winners than Nick Lewis. Lewis was masterful in the 1-0 win. Lewis picked up the win for Lowell, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. The win puts the Spinners at 19-21, while the Renegades drop to 34-6.
The Renegades had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Spinners going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Kyle Guyton came to the plate. Guyton hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 sinker from Hudson Valley hurler Dave Dugles. It was Guyton's 6th double of the year.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Guyton told the Lowell Bulletin. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
