Auburn Drops Another One, 6-1
|
Art Cathcart, who is tied for 4th in the NYP in innings pitched with 59.2, imposed his will on the Doubledays from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 6-1 State College triumph. Cathcart picked up the win for State College, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Trent Berry picked up the save for State College, his 6th of the year.
Matt Ferrantelli drove in one run for State College. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bobby Smans. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Cathcart.
State College, now 26-15, holds down first place in the Pinckney Division.
