Carapia Delivers Walk-Off Win for Yankees
|
The Staten Island Yankees faced a tough opponent in Aberdeen pitcher Ricky Mendoza, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Richmond County Bank Ballpark by a final score of 1-0. Mendoza went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs. Staten Island reliever Jack Morrison got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Jeff Lambert was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Yankees have a record of 24-17.
The Yankees got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Eduardo Carapia. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Yankees.
"The house was rockin'," said Carapia.
