Juneau, Yankees Dispatch Aberdeen, 11-0
|
Staten Island starter Bruce Juneau throttled the Aberdeen offense, as the Yankees won in a rout, 11-0. The win puts the Yankees at 17-24, while the Ironbirds drop to 9-32.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Juneau. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Yankees. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Ironbirds, striking out 11 and scattering 7 hits over 8.1 innings. Juneau is now 4-1 on the season.
"I take responsibility for this loss," said Aberdeen manager Chris Bush. "But the truth is the whole team needs to play better. Or there will be changes."
