Slumping ValleyCats Lose 8th Straight
|
Connecticut Tigers starter Francisco Martinez turned in a sparkling performance against the Tri-City ValleyCats, leading his team to a 2-1 win. The win belonged to Orlando Vigil in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Hidehiro Ryu took the loss for Tri-City. Jose Perez, who leads the NYP in strikeouts with 61, nailed down the save.
Kevin Silvers hit a run-scoring double off Matt Myers in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Tigers in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Silvers had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"If you beat me, you beat me, if not, good things will happen," said Martinez.
The first-place Tigers go to 27-14.
