Big Day for Martinez as Spikes Down Crosscutters, 6-1
The State College Spikes beat the Williamsport Crosscutters by a score of 6-1. State College right fielder Jose Martinez deserved the lion's share of the credit. Martinez went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Spikes. The first-place Spikes hiked their record to 26-15.

Fernando Rivera had a big run-scoring double for the Spikes in the bottom of the second inning. With State College leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Adams and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spikes ahead, 2-0.

"This team is real focused right now," said State College manager Paul Thomas.
