Spinners Lose, 5-1, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats downed the Lowell Spinners, 5-1, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Stellar pitching by Rich Liverman had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NYP in saves with 5, handcuffed his opponent all game. Keaton Edwards picked up his 1st save of the season. The ValleyCats sport a record of 17-25.
Matt Scheuer dealt the Spinners a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Tri-City leading 1-0, Scheuer hit a 1-1 cutter for a 2-run single.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said ValleyCats manager Eddie DiGiovine.
