Scrappers Top Doubledays, 5-2
|
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers picked up a win at Falcon Park, knocking off the Auburn Doubledays, 5-2. On the mound for Mahoning Valley was right-hander Karl Morgan, who played a pivotal role in the win. The save was credited to Tony Olivarez, his 4th. Mahoning Valley is now 32-10, while Auburn is 17-25.
Mahoning Valley used the timely hitting of Jason Malloch to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Scrappers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.
Malloch attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
