Herrera Leads State College Past West Virginia
The State College Spikes topped the West Virginia Black Bears, 4-0, in New York-Penn League action at Russell Diethrick Park. The standout performance belonged to State College pitcher and Maracaibo, Venezuela, native David Herrera. The Spikes saw their win-loss record go to 27-15. At the same time, the Black Bears fell to 20-22.

Herrera yielded no runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings for the Spikes. For the season, Herrera has a record of 5-1 with 73 strikeouts.

"Being in first place now is good," said Herrera. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
