Black Bears Pin 3-1 Loss on State College
|
The West Virginia Black Bears took on the State College Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Ryan Perez could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his State College Spikes lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the West Virginia Black Bears at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The winner was Mike Gallegos in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Ryan Perez took the loss. Ian Roth earned the save for West Virginia, his 1st of the year.
West Virginia used the hitting of Nick Popp to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Bears on top, 2-1. For the game, Popp had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Popp told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The Black Bears are now 20-22.
