Fading Crosscutters Lose 6th Straight
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 5-3. Mahoning Valley pitcher and Fairfax, Virginia, native Ben Tourville led the way. Mahoning Valley reliever Dave Barbee got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Cody Rakestraw was tagged with the loss. Dan Ford was credited with the save for Mahoning Valley, his 4th of the season.

Mahoning Valley went up, 4-3, on Phil Sproston's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Sproston hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Williamsport pitcher Cody Rakestraw shaking his head.

"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Williamsport skipper B.J. Olenchuk.

With the win, Mahoning Valley has a record of 24-19. Williamsport falls to 16-27.
