Ironbirds Stay Hot, Beat Tigers, 5-1
|
Chris Spradling, who is tied for 3rd in the NYP in complete games with 1, imposed his will on the Tigers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Aberdeen triumph. Spradling, now 5-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Aberdeen has now won 5 straight.
Luis Perez dealt the Tigers a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Aberdeen leading 2-1, Perez hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Spradling.
