Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Connecticut Tigers and Vermont Lake Monsters.

In a tension-filled contest between the Connecticut Tigers and the Vermont Lake Monsters, pitcher Jose Ruiz was superb. The Connecticut right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. The first-place Tigers lifted their record to 29-14.

Ruiz, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Vermont hitters off-balance, while giving the Tigers 7 quality innings. Ruiz threw 83 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8.

"Jose was throwing strikes, locating well," said Connecticut manager Sean Raymond.
