Ironbirds Rally to Nose Past Brooklyn
|
Ripken Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Aberdeen Ironbirds and Brooklyn Cyclones.
The Aberdeen Ironbirds withstood a fine game by Brooklyn shortstop Alex Orellana at Ripken Stadium, to upend the Cyclones, 4-3. Orellana was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. The winner in relief was David Castaneda. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2.
Aberdeen got a game-changing hit from Trevor Westbrook. The shortstop blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Westbrook said.
Aberdeen now has a record of 26-18 with the win.
