Victors Again, West Virginia Win Streak at 9
|
Bobby MacNeill, who is tied for 5th in the NYP in quality starts with 6, never let the Renegades get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Black Bears to a win, 3-1. MacNeill, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The first-place Black Bears have won 9 in a row.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from designated hitter BalduĂno Cabeadas. For the game, Cabeadas was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave West Virginia a 2-0 lead.
"We're in some kind of groove right now," said Cabeadas.
