Ironbirds Capture Close Win
The Tri-City ValleyCats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bobby Vega into a win. Instead, the Aberdeen Ironbirds prevailed, 6-5. Vega threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Robby Stamm picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Brian Schwartz suffered the loss. Picking up the save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Clayton Baringer.

It could have been a different outcome for Aberdeen, had it not been for Fernando Fiscal, the 20-year old second baseman . Fiscal contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Aberdeen up, 6-5.

"Nervous? No," said Fiscal. "It was my time to shine."

The Ironbirds own a robust 33-12 mark.
