The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, dropping the State College Spikes, 3-2. Mart Smolders, the 8th overall pick in the 2103 draft, was the difference-maker. With the win over State College, the Lake Monsters improved to 27-18.

The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from third baseman Carlos Salgado. For the game, Salgado was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Vermont a 3-1 lead.

"Mart threw the ball very, very well," said Vermont manager Jerry Zuniga.
