Getting an impressive start from Bobby Harmsen, Mahoning Valley beat State College by the score of 4-2. The Scrappers sit in first place in the Pinckney Division with a record of 31-15.
Had Nate Franz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Franz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Scrappers.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Paul Thomas.
