The West Virginia Black Bears banked on Bruce Murphy and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Mahoning Valley hitters in check. The final score was 1-0, Black Bears. Ian Roth was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. The 4th-place Black Bears now sit at 22-24.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Black Bears had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when right fielder Elias Valdes hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Josh Chapin and made the score 1-0, Black Bears. Valdes went 1-3.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Valdes said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
