Scrappers Suffer 5-3 Loss to Ironbirds
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Aberdeen Ironbirds and Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

The Aberdeen Ironbirds picked up a win at Eastwood Field, topping the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 5-3. On the mound for Aberdeen was right-hander Juan Jones. He played a principal role in the triumph. Brian Gilmer recorded his 1st save for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen used the hitting of Ramon Soto to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Ironbirds on top, 2-0. For the game, Soto had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Juan was throwing with conviction," said Aberdeen manager Josh Ouderkirk.

Aberdeen currently is in second place in the McNamara Division at 27-20.
