The State College Spikes beat the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 4-3, with major props going to right fielder Raul Romero. On the day, Romero went 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Spikes. David Herrera, the winner, goes to 6-1. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Trent Berry got the save, the 7th for him this season.

Romero had a timely hit for State College in the top of the sixth. With State College trailing 3-2, he turned a 0-1 cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 4-3, State College.

Romero attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
