Black Bears Walk It Off for 27th Win of Season
The West Virginia Black Bears topped the Batavia Muckdogs, 4-3, in New York-Penn League action at Russell Diethrick Park. The standout performance belonged to West Virginia pitcher and Caracas, Venezuela, native Manny Mejia. Raul Magallanez was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Joseph Lloyd. West Virginia occupies second place in the Pinckney Division at 27-21.

Dusty Medina was the walk-off hero for West Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Black Bears shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Mejia attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
