Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Lowell Spinners got the win.
The Lowell Spinners picked up a win at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, dropping the Staten Island Yankees, 4-3. Tyler Mullins was the difference-maker. Mullins, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jake Schafer earned the save for Lowell, his 1st of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Garrett Tetro? The Lowell third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spinners on top, 3-2. For the game, Tetro had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We found a way to get it done," Tetro said.
By defeating Staten Island, the third-place Spinners improved to 18-31.
