Batavia Loses, 7-5, to Vermont in 12
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters and Batavia Muckdogs put on quite a show.
The Vermont Lake Monsters racked up a win at Dwyer Stadium, bumping off the Batavia Muckdogs, 7-5, in 12 innings. Israel Salanova, who started for Vermont, pitched effectively for his team. Vermont reliever Matt Johnson got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Ricardo Lopez was tagged with the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Gabe Garcia came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Batavia pitcher Ricardo Lopez, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Vermont on top, 4-3.
Salanova called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder."
The last-place Lake Monsters are 19-30.
