Lake Monsters Hand Ironbirds 6-2 Loss
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Ripken Stadium, taking down the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 6-2. Starting pitcher Ronnie Morrison was a big reason why. Morrison got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Vermont is now 30-19, Aberdeen 27-22.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from third baseman Bill Segarra. For the game, Segarra went 2-5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Vermont a 3-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Vermont manager Jerry Zuniga.
