In a low-scoring contest between the Staten Island Yankees and the Lowell Spinners, Bob Searle, who is tied for 6th in the NYP in quality starts with 6, proved to be the difference. The Staten Island right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Yankees win. Searle, now 3-3, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Phil Martel closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Yankees had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman John Bowsman hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Brett Hinders and made the score 1-0, Yankees. Bowsman was 1 for 2 with a walk.

"It was a good effort all around," said Bowsman.

At 26-24, Staten Island is in third place in the McNamara Division.
