Crosscutters Down ValleyCats, 3-1
|
The Williamsport Crosscutters topped the Tri-City ValleyCats, 3-1, in New York-Penn League action at Bowman Field. The standout performance belonged to Williamsport pitcher and Tinley Park, Illinois, native Jake Conti. Conti, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Alex Reyes sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Fidel Maldonado had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Williamsport. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Williamsport in front, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Williamsport manager Will Walsh.
