Spikes Snag 5-3 Win
|
The State College Spikes beat the Auburn Doubledays, 5-3, in 11 innings. State College pitcher and Omaha, Nebraska, native Sam Stratton led the way. State College reliever Dennis Galeana picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Steve Clark took the loss. State College now sits at 26-26, while Auburn falls to 22-30.
State College won the game in part because of Raul Romero. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Spikes ahead, 5-3. For the game, Romero had 1 double and 1 home run in 2 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Stratton said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
