Doubledays Stop Spikes, 2-1

The State College Spikes and Auburn Doubledays were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Craig Burns could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his State College Spikes lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Auburn Doubledays at Falcon Park. Manny Vasquez, the winning pitcher, is now 2-1. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 0. Earning his 2nd save for Auburn was Jon Connors.
The Doubledays got an important contribution from left fielder Ryan Phillips, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a cutter into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Doubledays ahead, 2-0.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Phillips said.
With the win, Auburn raised its record to 32-20.
